Ken and I went for our volunteer training today for the NC Marathon. It is sponsored by my employer UnitedHealthcare and Foster Friends of North Carolina. The proceeds are used by Foster Friends to purchase such things as high school year books, class trips and prom dresses for children in foster care. Things that most of our children took for granted and things that these kids long for. The organization teaches these children and teens life skills and provides long term mentoring relationships as well...Sounds like a great orgnaization.We are volunteering to register runners ....and have to be there at 5:00 a.m. sharp on Saturday morning....now that's early! They already provided chocolate chip cookies, a great hat and a lime green Tshirt at the training......I was hooked after the chocolate chip cookie!
