My Daughter-In-Law - The Visionary

I like to think of myself as creative. However my creativity shows up more in ideas of different ways to get a task done....not necessarily the best ways but creative ways none the less. Now on the other hand when it comes to decorating or picking out colors I am the one whose " taste is in their mouth" as some might say. I call it the " can't sing on key" syndrome. I think it is a missing synapse or nerve connection in the brain that is missing from birth....Can't sing, Can't draw, Can't tell which colors go together, can't visualize...you get the picture. When I look at a room I only see the walls and the floor and ceiling...I can't visualize how new furniture would look or how the old furniture would look if rearranged....Well, enough about me.

This post is about Kelly Grace....no, not my daughter Kelly Grace Swinson but Matt's wife Kelly Roberts Grace. (Don't worry even I get confused) Kelly Grace has that brain connection that I am missing...She can visualize how things will look and after she has put it all together it indeed looks great. She has many other talents as well- She can paint, lay ceramic tile, wake board, mix grout, manhandle the garden tiller, drive Matt's rig even though she can't see over the dashboard....you get the picture. I would guess there isn't much she can't do.

Back to her design abilities...There was the time she painted her very small apartment kitchen black....she may call it charcoal gray...but to you and me it was black....now I thought I had her on this one. Who in the world would do that?...Well she did and I have to admit it looked great...are you visualizing with me here? Then she painted the wall below the chair rail in their new house navy blue....naturally I thought....what in the world...but again she was right it looked great. Since I have trouble deciding between beige and tan these choices are outside of my reality. And then there was the time she said she wanted a red comforter for her bed as a Christmas gift.....Don't see many of those in these parts....but I found one and ....you know the story by now...it looked great.

Anyway the reason for this post is her latest vision...She and Matt wanted to make a grassed area behind their house into a stone patio...and Ken volunteered to help put it in. Now our idea of a stone patio is the usual 12x12 or 18x18 poured concrete blocks of the same color and height , spaced exactly the same distance apart and with a smooth surface.....Well...Kelly picked out a flagstone that was completely irregular....big pieces smaller pieces...some 1 " thick some 4" thick...very irregular surface...Now I am thinking " What in the world" and she is seeing a vision. The project is now complete and the results are in. You guessed it....looks great...but don't take my word for it...take a look and decide for yourself. Also take note of the copper " Rain Chain"
going from the gutter downspout to a wooden keg shaped rain barrel.....guess whose idea that was?
