My Son.... the newly Licensed Contractor

Since Matt was a little boy he loved to build things. He and Kim Rouse, who lived across the street, liked to build go carts. No piece of wood was safe when Kim and Matt were in the mood to build something. They would spend hours in our back yard hammering together what they felt was the perfect vehicle.

As Matt grew older he shared his desire to be a contractor when he grew up. One summer when he was 14 or so he and a friend helped a contractor, Mr. Ray, build his own house and from then on he was hooked. He worked for Danny Gonzales one summer as well and found out that it wasn't all fun and games either. He got a taste of the early mornings, heat and humidity and many different personalities that you meet in the construction industry.

As he finished high school and thought about college he never wavered from his desire to be involved in construction. He finished his degree at Pitt Community College and continued to work for Quality Collision in the body shop until one day his dream came true....Albert Holloman asked him if he was interested in working for Holloman Construction. Matt really liked working with Marty Radford and Marty had been a mentor to Matt but this was his life's dream. Matt went to work for Albert and has been there ever since.

Matt also wanted something else. He had set a goal to take the test and become a licensed contractor. Sure enough he met that goal recently. Matt got focused on the task and with the help of his wife Kelly, studied hard for the exam. No telling how much time he put into making sure he knew the material. Well, the hard work paid off and Matt passed the test with flying colors. He is now a licensed contractor in North Carolina.

Matt is one of the lucky ones who loves his work. It is a wonderful gift when your life's work is a pleasure. Not many people can truly say they get up in the morning and look forward to the day ahead. Matt learns something new each day and is lucky to now have Albert as a mentor as well. Matt is one of the few people I know who are perfectly matched with their profession.

Here's to you Matt. I am so proud of you.
