Valentines Day Nostalgia

Regardless of how old you are....57...or 17 you remember how it felt in grammar school the days leading up to Valentines Day. How much fun it was to take the red construction paper and staple it together to make the folder. Then the creative juices started flowing and you got to decorate it with white hearts.....Close your eyes ...try to remember...Do you smell the glue? The kind that comes in the glass bottle with the red rubber applicator top if you are 57 and maybe the white paste type....or glue stick if you are under 30. Then the fun begins....going to the store...Woolworths or W.T. Grant if you are 57 and Walmart or Target if you are 30 or younger buy the perfect box of valentines and those NECCO candy conversation hearts with the words printed on them....You remember the phrases -Kiss Me....Be Mine...and Sweet Talk...if you are 57 and today you might find...EZ 2 LUV, URA Tiger and Cool Cat. Of course you dumped out all the hearts to specially pick the one you wanted to put in each valentine for your classmates and do you remember searching for that perfect valentine in the box for that special someone in the class? If you are 57 the valentines were usually whimsical animals with cute sayings and if you are 17 you probably had the latest cartoon characters. You could hardly sleep the night before waiting for the next morning to take your valentines to school and place each in the decorated folders with everyone's name on the front. Just think of how proud you were to take the folder home filled with valentines from all of your friends. What a great way for everyone to feel special. Now that I am in the Valentine Spirit....I think I will go and eat some more chocolate that my wonderful husband gave me for Valentines Day.... EZ 2 Luv
